Type of project: Domestic Garden
A tiny courtyard garden with minimal maintenance requirements. Designer Miro Timko has used modern landscaping materials with fabulous results. To make a tiny space into a useable garden
The client wanted to make better use of the space beyond her patio doors. This is a tiny space with barely enough light to grow plants but potentially offered the chance to spend time out of doors.
ChallengeMaking the most of this compact space
Designing such a tiny garden is a problem. On the one hand it needs to be serviceable and beautiful, on the other hand it could easily appear cluttered
SolutionSmall CAN be beautiful
By making full use of the vertical surfaces this small space really feel like a garden. Using artificial plants negated the need for large pots, soil or irrigation systems. This in turn, frees up the floor space for that all-important seating. Cedar battens and faux foliage offer all year round appeal. They appear warm and welcoming on chilly days yet invitingly cool when the sun beats down. Clever design has resulted in a great place for relaxation, study and entertaining.
